Awarded Top 20 Photographers Of 2015
Press Release
International Recognition for Local Photographer
Local Photographer Karl Redshaw who works a as a professional photographer covering, Sports & commercial, has gained international recognition by winning a significant award with the Guild of Professional Photographers.
The Guild of Photographers is the highly regarded national photographic body whose members are dedicated to enhancing their skills in the art, craft and profession of photography.
It runs an Image of the Month competition, and over 10,000 entries during 2015. Each image is scored, and the scores from the year are then totalled to determine who wins one of the Guild's Top 20 Photographer awards. This is clearly a very demanding year long process!
Karl was honoured to become one of the Top 20 International Photographer of the Year 2015 - a remarkable achievement when one considers the number and standard of the entries. Also receiving life membership to the photographer’s bar, an exclusive honour preserved for only the very best of artists.
Their Awards were announced at the Guild's Awards night at Crewe Hall (a stunning Jacobean mansion in Cheshire), earlier this year.
Steve Thirsk (Director of the Guild) said that he is “both proud and delighted that Karl has achieved this recognition after 12 months of submitting the highest quality images. The Guild has very demanding standards when judging photographic competitions. The judging is undertaken by a panel of internationally recognised experts from a variety of photographic backgrounds, so Karl quite rightly should be delighted with his extraordinary achievement’ “It’s even more extraordinary that Karl has achieved top 20 status, and been issued the bar for the 2nd consecutive year, showing that sort of consistency is a big ask”.
Members of the Guild are committed to achieving the highest standards of professionalism and to a journey of continuing professional development. Karl himself already holds the status of “Craftsman” within the guild, a very rare and difficult distinction to obtain.
The Guild website (www.photoguild.co.uk) lists members throughout the country who offer this commitment. To view Karl’s portfolio and request consultation please visit www.karlredshaw.com

National Acclaim Photographic Bar Awarded For 2nd Year
PRESS RELEASE
Local photographer achieves national acclaim!
Local photographer Karl Redshaw has achieved the criteria of the 'Photographers Bar' for the second year in succession.
Membership of the 'Photographers Bar' is a unique distinction awarded to those photographers who have successfully had images assessed by the Guild of Photographers over the course of a year and have attained a score that evidences an exceptional level of professional skill and consistency throughout a full year.
The Guild of Photographers is a highly respected association for all photographers and its competition attracts up to 10,000 images for judging by an expert Panel of Judges each month. Points are given to entries and these are then totalled at the end of the year. Those who reach the required threshold are then awarded membership of the 'Photographers Bar'.
That membership of the 'Photographers Bar' is a distinction that is very difficult to achieve - in fact less than 100 photographers have achieved it in the 3 years since its inception, during which time over 30,000 images will have been entered for assessment by photographers across the UK and from overseas.
Guild Director Lesley Thirsk said "I am delighted for Karl as this is a great achievement! Submitting and having images assessed every month for a year and reaching the required standards to become a member of the Photographers Bar is very very demanding. It illustrates his commitment, skill and consistency. He should be very proud of what he has achieved!" To do this for two consecutive years is a remarkable achievement and a true sign of his talents.
On hearing the news Karl said “ To achieve the bar for the second year is great news, it is very demanding, and to be creative over such a long period of time is tuff”

Shortlisted For Sports Photographer Of The Year 2015
PRESS RELEASE
Local Photographer Karl Redshaw achieves national acclaim!
Karl, a photographer based in Bulkington, Bedworth has reached the Final of the fiercely contested Guild of Photographers Image of the Year Competition.
The Guild is a highly respected UK based association for photographers, which has members from overseas as well. Each year it runs an on-line monthly photographic competition with awards being given each month to the very best of the entries. Karl has racked up an impressive 24 awarded images during 2015.
During the course of 2015, the competition attracted nearly 10,000 entries in 4 categories, and this week the Guild’s Judges have selected just 10 images in the various genres from the very best of the monthly entries, to go forward to the annual Final. Karl ‘s image is one of those images!
Guild Director Lesley Thirsk said “One of the Guild’s aims is to drive standards and creativity amongst photographers. Our monthly competition certainly does that, for the standard of the entries we see each month is quite staggering. To have an image recognised by the Guild in the monthly competition is difficult enough, so to have an image selected as being one of the best 10 in a category for the end of year Final is a quite remarkable achievement, and shows just how talented a photographer Karl is”
Karl said “I am delighted to be among the final few in contention for sports & Events photographer of the year 2015”. I love photography, and put a lot of effort into developing my skills. One way I do that is to enter the Guild’s competition. It drives forward photography standards month after month so it helps me push myself. The images I see getting awards each month are inspirational, so knowing just how high those standards are, to have one of my images selected as one of only 10 to go through to the Final from the whole year’s entries is really really exciting. I couldn’t believe it when I found out.”
Karls’s image along with the others will now be printed ready for the Competition Final later in January, and the overall winner will be announced at a lavish Awards night in a magnificent Jacobean mansion in Cheshire on 6th February.
