The prequel to the acclaim course "Beyond The Basics", This is aimed at those right at the very start of their photographic journey. This short 4 week course will help you get off auto and make the first few tentative steps into controlling your camera. Basic explanations for simple function like exposure compensation and how to use focus controls, and of course a basic understanding of camera exposure, and composition. There will be simple tasks assigned after meetings to complete and bring in your pictures to the next meeting where we can discuss as a group and look at our success or failures and how to move forward, please note that the tasks are not mandatory and if you wish not to do these it presents no problem. A course that concentrates on individual needs, questions and collective support with a relaxed format .

Visit this unique working farm, that grows Delphiniums for the real confetti company, wonder through vast sways of multicoloured crops with a selection of cornflowers thrown into the mix. Collection from the BVC at 9:30am (max 3 places). Transport to and from the farm, Your entrance fee is included. This is a shorter day with your visit to the farm lasting between 2-3 hours. Basic information and photographic opportunities will be explained when on site. All tuition after this is at your request, and is on hand if you require it, You may if you wish spend your time doing your own thing.

Group of 3 students only, Collection from BVC at 9:15am. Transport to and from excursion. Day begins with Snowshill lavender farm and wild flower meadow, Your entrance fee is included in this event to the lavender farm. After this we will make our way by car to Broadway Tower which is a free to enter location but does not include entry into the tower. At this point you can pay to enter the tower if you wish, but will provide little photographic opportunity. There are facilities available at both location and stops will be made for refreshments but at your own cost. All student will receive basic information regards photo opportunities, all other tutoring is offered during the day at your discretion, If you wish to do your own thing this is perfectly fine, but help and advice is on hand for all who require it.

Six week course that will initially ensure you have a firm understanding of the basics of exposure and the relationship that iso, Aperture and shutterspeed have with each other. Then an overview of focus modes, and hyperfocal focusing and explore back button focus technique. Moving through basic and advanced composition techniques. Qualification and distinctions, along with a Licentiate panel exercise. We will also look at the theory behind firework and slow shutter water photography. There will also be an explanation of what gear i use, why i use it. A well rounded course designed to help you give your work meaning, depth and emotion. Regular slideshows covering Landscape, Architecture, Sports, Wildlife and wedding. Along with time for discussing prints. A huge amount of tuition for a very very low cost. Hand out booklets now included and certificate on completion.
